The Study Zone is a great place for students to study, do homework and get help with their questions. Volunteer tutors provide free homework help during Study Zone hours. Students can find help in all subject areas, including Math, Science and MSP/HSPE and SAT test preparation. Stop by a KCLS community library and find your Study Zone.

What is Study Zone?
Volunteer tutors are available at participating KCLS community libraries to provide free homework help to students at the library. The Study Zone is a great place for students to study, do homework and get help with their questions. The program is open to all students grades K-12. Study Zone sessions are designed for a group setting; each tutor works with 1-5 students in a group setting. Study Zone tutors are not able to provide intensive, private one-to-one tutoring.

How do students join Study Zone?
There is no need to sign up in advance, just drop in any time during Study Zone hour. Students are not required to register or provide personal information to participate in Study Zone. See the schedule below for Study Zone hours at a KCLS library near you.

Who are your tutors?
Study Zone tutors are volunteers from our communities who must pass a Washington State patrol background check and complete a program orientation before they begin tutoring. Study Zone tutors can provide help in all subject areas up to the 8th grade level and also specialize in one or two subjects each up to the college-prep level.

 

Free Online Tutoring

Students in grades K-12, entry level college and adult learners can receive specialized one-on-one tutoring help in the areas of math, science, English and social studies. This service is also available in Spanish. Professional tutors are available online from 2pm-Midnight, 7 days a week.

"Live Homework Help®" requires the Adobe Flash 8.0 browser plug-in which can be downloaded here. This service now also works with Safari or Firefox (2.0 or higher) browsers on Mac OS X.

Study Zone Online Tutors

Open to students grades K-12 - Available Monday through Thursday 3-8pm and Sunday 1-6pm
The fall semester of Study Zone begins Monday, September 12. See the Study Zone calendar for scheduled program closures.

Tutor Languages (all grades): Find tutors who can help ELL students in their primary language or students studying a second language.

Study Zone Online uses the online classroom designed by Brainfuse, allowing for simultaneous live chat and whiteboard drawing functions. As with the Study Zone tutors in the library, Study Zone Online take place in a group setting with 1-5 students for each tutor. Students can work individually with a tutor or students can work together in a group and get help from a tutor as they need it. Students can even use our online worksheets for skills building practice.

How do students join Study Zone?
There is no need to sign up in advance, just log in any time during Study Zone hour. All you need is your library card. Students can also drop in to work with live tutors at most KCLS libraries.
