Student Privacy and Use of Extensions and/or Apps

One thing to keep in mind as you find extensions to use for remote learning and teaching is that the ASD has policies in place to protect student privacy. The district only utilizes extensions and/or apps that limit the access of a student’s personally identifiable information (PII) to “information in the education records of a student that would not be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed.”

If you would like your students to use an extension and/or app, make sure it is on the approved list which includes the district’s evaluation of the electronic resource. Checking this list before recommending it to a student will save you a headache or two.

If the extension and/or app is not on the list, fill out and submit the New Software Request form for online website tools and resources (including Chromebook extensions and Android apps).

For more information, go to the ASD’s Data Security page.
